At PKF Malta, we understand the need for accelerating the transition to clean energy. Renewable energy sources, provided by the wind, sun, water, waste and possibly even heat are naturally replenishable and generate limited greenhouse gases and pollutants into the atmosphere. At an EU level, renewable energy targets are set across all sectors of the economy to work towards the take-up of renewables that contribute towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
The vision is clear. Renewable energy is the way forward and all local interlocutors need to pull up their sleeves to work towards this common goal. After the announcement made by the Government of Malta through the Preliminary Market Consultation for the exploitation of Malta’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), there has been an increased interested in potential offshore renewable energy projects. Congruently, individual businesses are gearing up towards the implementation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive in 2023.
With this in mind, PKF Malta feels that such matters merit a high-level business conference that takes onboard a holistic approach by targeting projects both at a national and individual businesses. The conference will discuss the practicalities and implications of future projects for the Maltese with a special focus on offshore renewable energy projects, and also focus on the environment component on a micro level by individual businesses.
The highly anticipated event will be held on the 12th of April 2023 at the Hilton Malta and will be addressed by numerous local and international speakers representing topics related to sustainability and energy generation in Malta’s EEZ.
