Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager / Senior Tax Advisor to join our Direct Tax Advisory team in Malta. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Birkirkara, with some opportunities to work from home. The successful candidate will oversee tax planning, compliance, and preparation activities, while also driving business development by bringing in new tax work and assisting the firm in servicing clients.

This role is open only to locally based candidates. No visa sponsorship is offered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on Maltese tax matters and international tax developments.
  • Provide specific tax advice on-demand, tailored to client needs.
  • Liaise with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration regarding interpretation of tax law.
  • Oversee tax compliance, planning, and preparation activities, including review of tax returns.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective tax strategies.
  • Identify and bring in new tax engagements to support business growth.
  • Assist in servicing tax clients as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Professional qualification in Tax, Accounting, or Law (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience, ideally within an audit and accountancy firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge in tax planning, compliance, and preparation, with in-depth understanding of Maltese tax law and general tax principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency in both English and Maltese.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, work independently and collaboratively, and meet demanding deadlines.
  • A highly motivated, well-presented individual with an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn, open to new challenges, and able to build client relationships to bring in new work.
